Why Kindred Pelvic & Children's Health Was Created.

Our Story

Kindred Pelvic & Children’s Health was founded by Cara Richmond with a vision to create a space where people feel truly supported, understood and cared for.

With over 14 years of experience as a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, Cara has worked extensively across Melbourne’s northern, inner west and western suburbs, building strong relationships with individuals, families, GPs and specialists.

Throughout her career, Cara recognised a gap in care, particularly in pelvic health and children’s continence where many people felt rushed, unheard or unsure where to turn for help.

Kindred was created to offer something different: a space grounded in compassion, clinical excellence and truly individualised care.

Cara's Approach & Passion

Cara brings a unique combination of clinical expertise, lived experience and a deep commitment to her clients. As a mother, clinician, educator and mentor, she understands the complexity of pelvic health across all stages of life.

She is passionate about supporting people of all genders and children with a wide range of pelvic health concerns, including pregnancy and postnatal recovery, pelvic pain, bladder and bowel dysfunction, and children’s toileting challenges.

Cara is known for her warm, thorough and hands-on approach, combining manual therapy, exercise and education to create meaningful and lasting change. Her care is always tailored to the individual, recognising that no two people or experiences are the same.

A Different Kind of Care

At Kindred, care goes beyond treating symptoms.

Cara believes in creating a safe, respectful and inclusive environment — one where people feel comfortable to talk openly about often sensitive concerns and feel empowered with knowledge and understanding of their bodies.

As a neuro-affirming and gender-affirming practitioner, Cara is committed to providing care that is inclusive, supportive and responsive to each person’s unique needs.

Kindred Pelvic & Children’s Health reflects this philosophy — bringing together evidence-based treatment, holistic care and genuine connection to support long-term health and wellbeing.

Looking Forward

As Kindred continues to grow, Cara’s vision remains the same, to support more individuals and families across Melbourne with high-quality, compassionate pelvic health care, and to create a space where people feel truly seen, heard and supported.
